Martina Lončar jewellery it is delicate by nature and we encourage customers to take extra care when wearing it daily. An easy tip is taking off your rings when you are doing rough hand work that may damage a stone or the shape of a ring. We also recommend taking your jewelry off when washing your hands, showering and sleeping. When putting on sweaters, going through pockets, etc. we also recommend spinning the rings to the inside of your hand to avoid the shapes or prong settings from getting caught on anything.
Silver tarnishes over time:
This is a natural process that occurs to the metal and in some cases can add to the character of the piece. However, polishing silver back to its former glory is very easy.
When polishing your piece, use a small lint-free piece of cloth and clean in back and forth motions, not circular ones as this can scratch the surface. If that doesn't work try washing powder in addition to the polish should do the trick. If you have lots of silver jewellery we suggest you to purchase a jewellery polishing cloth which removes the tarnishing.
Gold plating:
Gold plating is not permanent and depending on the amount of wear will rub off over time. Household cleaners, perfume, hair spray, hand cream, makeup, and other beauty products may dull or remove the gold plating. Some people like the transience and imperfection of this look but If you want your piece touched up please contact us and it can be arranged.
Crystals:
In general, we recommend being gentle with your rings, follow the tips above, and be mindful not to hit them against something hard by mistake.
Please note:
Contact with household chemicals, perspiration, rubber, chlorinated water, or any substances which contain sulphur (e.g., mayonnaise, eggs, mustard, onions, latex, wool), will cause corrosion and tarnish — so it’s a good idea to remove silver jewellery when doing household work. Direct sunlight also causes silver to tarnish, so be sure to take off your silver jewellery before you go swimming and sunbathing. Lotions, cosmetics and perfume also enhance the oxidisation process.
